Koppantó : snuffers (Magyar). See images.
In the late 19th century a man named Béla Helfer wrote for Hungarian newspapers using the name Koppantó. I don’t know anything more about this man or about what he wrote, but the name he chose appeals to me. The author as “snuffer” seems hard, forceful, final, but ambiguous: Extinguishing what candle? Trimming what wick? Given the time and place, his writings were undoubtedly political. But perhaps it might be a good name for one concerned by contradictions.
